Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, restorative practice that works with the body’s natural capacity for balance and healing. Using light touch rather than manipulation or force, it aims to support regulation of the nervous system while helping the body release patterns of tension and holding. Sessions are carried out fully clothed, lying down or seated, in a quiet environment.
During a treatment, I may remain in one position for several minutes at a time, for example holding the head or under the spine. This stillness gives the nervous system an opportunity to settle and experience a greater sense of safety and stability. As the body begins to soften and unwind, it can become easier for patterns of stress, tension, and overwhelm to shift naturally.
Rather than trying to change the body from the outside, Craniosacral Therapy works by listening to and supporting the health that is already present within the system. From this place, the body can begin to release, reorganise, realign, and rebalance itself in its own way and at its own pace.
Many people find that parts of themselves that have felt disconnected – physically, emotionally – can gradually become integrated, leading to a greater sense of ease, resilience, and connection. By supporting the body’s existing health and resources, Craniosacral Therapy seeks to create the conditions in which healing and positive change can emerge naturally.
One of the things I value most about this work is witnessing the unique ways people are able to process, integrate, and heal when given the opportunity and support that Craniosacral Therapy can offer. I am continually humbled and inspired by the body’s innate wisdom and capacity for change when it is met with the right conditions for healing.
What can craniosacral therapy help with?
I see clients with a wide range of issues, that report improvements including:
Stress
Anxiety
Depression
Insomnia
Migraines
Digestive Issues
Grief
Pain
General sense of unease or imbalance
Exploring through awareness
It is helpful to find out where in your body might be feeling a sense of wellbeing, and/or if there are places, memories, activities, pets etc that bring a feeling of peace and comfort. It’s then useful to see how the body responds when we place our awareness on this source of nourishment.
It can also be useful to get curious about the stories, as sharing when something happened, what was going on at the time and what it felt like at the time can be powerful. As well as the felt sense – the sensations, the feelings, the metaphors for those feelings, the emotions that come up – it can be instructive to explore the felt meaning, the stories we have about something, the beliefs we hold, and what it means to feel that sensation in the body.
What is ‘biodynamic’ craniosacral therapy?
I work ‘biodynamically’ which means that I make contacts with my hands without any mechanical intention.
It invites whatever is present to unfold, without judgement.
Its safe for all people including newborns and the elderly.
How many sessions do I need?
I am often asked how many sessions someone will need and how often. I will guide each individual on this. Occasionally people feel that they have achieved what they wanted to achieve in just a few sessions, whilst others feel longer-term therapy is helpful. The more sessions we have the deeper the therapeutic relationship will be.

Giving the body the conditions to tell it’s story
